About
Elizabeth Conlin currently resides in Portland, ME and has a BFA in Ceramics from Maine College of Art. While Maine is currently “home”, she has hiked and explored much of the country and draws on these experiences for inspiration to create installations. She is fascinated by the depth of the human imagination and the ability to create new species and worlds from substances we see every day. The relation between the bizarreness of the worlds and the comforting quality of the matter that is used to make up the worlds, allows the mind to wander between reality and unreality.
Her practice is also informed by her concern for the environment and amount of waste humans produce. Using materials that have been collected and gathered, she allows many species to take root and grow from the materials and trash that live among her studio.
